Welcome to Dessie Evans Elementary!

Dessie Evans is a special place. We are a school built on strong relationships, a deep sense of belonging, and a shared commitment to doing what is best for kids. Every day, we work in partnership with students, staff, and families to create a safe, welcoming environment where every child is known, valued, and supported.

As a dual language school, we are proud to celebrate bilingualism, biliteracy, and the many cultures and identities that make up our community. We believe students’ languages and lived experiences are strengths, and we intentionally build learning experiences that reflect and honor those strengths. Our goal is for every student to feel connected, challenged, and successful.

You will hear us talk a lot about our motto, Be the One. This is a message we share with our students and staff each day. It means being the one who shows kindness, the one who includes others, the one who stands up for what is right, and the one who keeps trying even when learning feels hard. These simple ideas guide how we treat one another and the kind of school community we work to create together.

Equity is at the center of our work at Dessie Evans. We hold high expectations for all students and continually reflect on our practices to ensure every child has access to strong instruction, meaningful support, and opportunities to grow. When barriers exist, we face them together and problem solve with care and purpose.

We are grateful for the trust families place in us and for the strong partnerships that support our students each day. Together, we are building a school where children feel safe, connected, and proud of who they are and who they are becoming.
